Dialogue at the Margins
In an effort to bring together the geographically-dispersed academics, activists, educators, mental/health professionals, policy-makers, and researchers that compose AGREAA into conversation, we have constructed an online forum for live dialogue. As an accessible supplement to in-person conferences and meetings, this live discussion forum serves as a platform for critical, innovative dialogue addressing current issues in trans and gender diverse research, activism and living. These discussions will occur monthly.
While our first dialogue will focus largely on introducing AGREAA, ourselves and our work, subsequent discussions will provide space for both individual dialogue and time structured specifically around particular topics and invited discussants. Like our membership, these topics span the theoretical spectrum and are to include anything from: debates over DSM categorization, activism and the academy, neoliberalism and the body, analyzing visual technologies, and even porn. For more information or if you have any particular topics or publications you would like to discuss (particularly if you are the author!) please contact: Elijah at elijah.@agreaa.org
The first Dialogue at the Margins was on Feb 11, 2009. If you missed the event, check out the archive here.
